I was very glad of CNN's coverage of the elections in Iran. They went out of their way to bring videos and pictures sent via Twitter. CNN had all day coverage of the protests against the re-election of president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. However, when it comes to what has been happening in Honduras since the ousting of deposed president Zelaya, CNN seems to be taking a stand of supporting dictators and violators of constitutional law. CNN seems to also be ignoring the connection, and main financier, between Zelaya and Chavez.
I've been following CNN this afternoon as they're trying to cover Zelaya's attempt to land in Honduras and, according to him, take back his post as president. Well, the interesting thing is the way CNN's reporter in the capital, Tegucigalpa, is presenting the events to the world audience. The reporter said "we've heard from the thousands of Zelaya's supporters, and we've also heard from the military and their bullets." Nice way to present the news.
Also, during another break, Don Lemmon, who unfortunately is only passing along info presented to him, talks about the "thousands of supporters marching in support of Zelaya." Well, like they say, "the devil's in the detail." The way the video was shot one can see that there weren't any "thousands" in the crowd. Maybe about a hundred. But, again, it all depends on how the camera is held during the shoot. If one wants to make crowds look big, all they have to do is shoot it from the shoulder height of the crowd and real close. If one wants to show how minuscule the crowd is, the camera is placed above the crowd. Again, the video shot by the CNN camera crew was meant to show the crowd as being very large. But, if one pays close attention, it'd be clear that the crowd was big at all and that the "thousands" were nothing more than a few of no more than one hundred.
Also, CNN is not reporting that the plane that Zelaya being flown into Honduras is Venezuelan. CNN is also not reporting that the biggest financier of Zelaya's mess in Honduras has been financed by Venezuela. CNN is not reporting that Chavez has made numerous threats against Honduras. Chavez has said that he'd bring Venezuelan's military into Honduras. Chavez said recently that if something happens to the Venezuelan ambassador in Honduras, it'd be a declaration of war. Only one other person comes to mind when I remember those threats, Kim Jong Il from North Korea. Chavez and Kim Jong Il are cut from the same cloth; dictators, violators of civil and human rights, oppressors. Oh, and they also have a very sensitive ego. Because Chavez and Kim Jong can't handle any amount of criticism, the first thing they do is shut down all radio/tv/newspapers that criticize them. Oh, then they claim to be "for the people." Right, maybe for those "people" who are willing to sell their conscience, and country, for a few crumbs.
